A Season of Smiles: Autumn Moments with Our Seniors

As the leaves turn golden and the air grows crisp, we're reminded that every season brings new opportunities to connect, celebrate, and care for one another. At Think of the Elderly, fall is more than just a change in weather- it's a time to gather, to share stories, and to create joyful moments that warm the heart.

🍂Highlights from Our October Gatherings

This month, we've been busy bringing autumn cheer to our beloved seniors across Little Rock:

* Pumpkin Painting Parties: Laughter echoed through the halls as brushes danced across bright orange pumpkins. Creativity knows no age!

* Porch Pop - Ins: Volunteers delivered cozy blankets, warm cider, and heartfelt conversation to homebound elders.

* Spooktacular Smiles Prep: Our team is buzzing with excitement as we prepare for our Halloween celebration- costumes, candy, and community galore!

💬A Word from Miss Lavern

" I never thought I'd be painting pumpkins at 87, but here I am! Ya'll make me feel young again".

Moments like these are why we do what we do. Connection is powerful. Joy is healing. And every smile matters.

🎃 Join Us for Spooktacular Smiles!

We're still looking for volunteers and candy donations for our upcoming Halloween event. If you'd like to help us, bring spooky joy to our seniors, we'd love to have you!

Think of the Elderly: A Call to End Social Isolation

In Little Rock and beyond, thousands of seniors wake up each day to silence. No calls, No visits. No one to ask how they slept or what they're looking forward to. At TOTE Foundation, we believe that no one- especially those who've spent a lifetime giving to others- should feel invisible.  Social isolation isn't just lonely. It's dangerous. Studies show it can lead to depression, cognitive decline, and even premature death. But here's the good news. Connection is powerful, and it's something we can all offer.  WHAT YOU CAN DO TODAY * Make a call: Reach out to an elder in your life. A five- minute chat can brighten their whole week. * Volunteer with TOTE: Join us for birthday parties, parades, and porch visits. We make connection joyful. * Share a Story: Post a memory or photo of a senior who shaped your life. Tag us and use #ThinkOfTheElderly. * Donate: Your support helps us deliver care packages, host events, and keep the mission alive. WHY IT MATTERS Every smi...

Together, Not Alone: How Communities Can Help Seniors Cope with Loneliness

"Become a Volunteer Today" 💛💛 Loneliness doesn't always look like silence. Sometimes it sounds like a TV echoing in an empty room, or a phone that never rings. For many older adults, especially those living alone or in care facilities, social isolation is a quiet crisis- one that affects not just their emotional well-being, but their physical health too. At TOTE Foundation, we believe that no senior should feel forgotten. And the good news? Every community member has the power to make a difference. 💥Why It Matters * Loneliness impacts health: Studies show that chronic isolation can increase the risk of heart disease, depression, and cognitive decline. * Connection builds resilience: Regular social interaction boosts mood, memory, and even immune function. * Community is healing: When seniors feel seen and valued, their sense of purpose flourishes. 👐 Small Actions, Big Impact Here are a few ways neighbors, volunteers, and local organizations can help: * Start with a he...
